The amount of inspirational music on Jools Holland is impossible to estimate, but here is yet another fantastic performance from Laura Marling taken from Friday 26th April 2013 on the good old BBC.
It’s taken from her new album Once I was an Eagle which is released which is on May 27th, along with this single Master Hunter.
Impressively this is her fourth album in five years and she is still only 23. I have to confess, up until last night for all the hype around Laura Marling I hadn’t ever really properly listened to her, but this performance on it’s own simply could not be ignored.
Her distinct and passionate voice, gives the impression of an American singer, but quite surprisingly she’s only from Hampshire. Marling has already won Brit awards, been nominated for Mercury Music awards, and critics are already starting to suggest this next collection could be her best material to date.
For an acoustic folk track the guitar riffs in Master Hunter are intense, and will be burned into your memory once you have the pleasure to hear it.
As a listener I’m really looking forward to checking out her back catalogue based solely on this track, so if you haven’t heard it, listen now, and if you’re already a fan, I imagine you’ll already be reaping the rewards of the aural pleasure.
Well done Laura, and congratulations Jools for another great show.
