Bronski Beat – I Said Hit that Perfect Beat, BOY!

perfect beat

Throw pretentiousness out of the window, forget about being too school for school, this is a track. I was trawling youtube on a musical journey recently when I came across this little classic from Bronski Beat. Ye, you’ve heard Smalltown Boy, who hasn’t? But what about this one?

This song may be from the 80’s and fashion may not be ultimately in it’s favour, but surely it’s worth looking kindly on this song. It’s a guilty pleasure admittedly, but nothing like as shabby as some X Factor or reality, Stars In Their Eyes wannabe tosh. My tune of the day!

[Gig Review] Chic – Manchester Ritz – Wednesday 29th May

Some artists DJ using vinyl, some artists prefer to DJ with CDs and in recent times many DJs have converted to the electronic age, using laptops and mini controllers, including ourselves.

[Video] The Strypes – Blue Collar Jane. Is a new take on the old going to take off?

blue collar

The 15 year old band from Ireland have been causing quite a stir and generating a fair amount of buzz in recent months. They’ve picked up celebrity fans, already done a UK tour and have a quite unique sound of now. Yet, that sound is one more familiar with the 1960’s, made famous by bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Yardbirds, Eddie Cochrane and many more.

This new take on the old style is seen as refreshing by many. Are we ready for The Strypes? Up until this moment they have been covering artists like Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, this following track is their debut single which is out now.

Could we be about to see a new take on an old style take the UK by storm in the form of the Irish teenagers still in high school? The band will be supporting Blur in Dublin in August, but watch out for them in their own right to make big splashes in 2013!
