Who doesn’t love ladies that Rock out! Deap Vally do just that and they oozes style and attitude in this video for ‘Baby I Call Hell’. There is a likeness in sound of The Black Keys and The White Stripes which has been so popular throughout the year, it should go a long way in bringing back that indie rock sound for 2013! The album Sistronix will be out in less than a month now and it is sure to have some great songs to rock out too! But until then just get yours locked on to this video!
The first time I saw Seasick Steve perform ‘Down On The Farm’ on Jools Holland I knew I wouldn’t be able to get the fierce riff out of my head. It will appeal to fans of ZZ Top for sure! When I searched the net for the video to post the Jools performance I cam across this video which features Seasick Steve himself dancing to the track with his guitar. Well I couldn’t control my laughter at his dancing and I am sure you will enjoy his performance as much as the song!
Down on the Farm is from Seasick Steve’s latest album “Hubcap Music” which was released on the 29th April 2013!
Great summery sound from Bleached with some raw punk rock and roll thrown in for good measure.
On the heels of three well-received singles comes Ride Your Heart, the bombastic debut album by LA band Bleached. Sisters Jennifer and Jessie Clavin match their ability to blend a mix of freewheeling ’77 punk with vintage sunny Southern California melodic rock and roll; creating blindingly bright hooks and dark heartfelt lyrics about love, loss, and the crazy fun moments in between. That’s the goal: the sugary and sour, repurposed by two aggressively harmonic musicians and songwriters. Their first single “Next Stop” epitomizes this movement – fun, raw, adventurous and free. Tossing you out onto the dance floor, hair mussed from make-outs, cigarette still dangling from your fingertips.

Another band to return in 2013 with a single and album is Queens of the Stone Age! Here is the video for the single ‘I Appear Missing’ from the album ‘…Like Clockwork’. The video is a very dark and deep animation where the character appears to be in a coma and on a lengthy journey! The album will feature guest appearances: Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys and UNKLE‘s James Lavelle. In addition to Grohl’s contribution, the record also features performances by former drummer Castillo, as well as tracks by new drummer Jon Theodore (ex-The Mars Volta, One Day as a Lion). Queens Of The Stone Age premiered a new song “My God Is The Sun” at Lollapollooza Brasil on March 30, 2013, a performance in which Theodore made his live debut. The studio version of the song premiered on Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 program on April 8, 2013.
The 15 year old band from Ireland have been causing quite a stir and generating a fair amount of buzz in recent months. They’ve picked up celebrity fans, already done a UK tour and have a quite unique sound of now. Yet, that sound is one more familiar with the 1960’s, made famous by bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Yardbirds, Eddie Cochrane and many more.
This new take on the old style is seen as refreshing by many. Are we ready for The Strypes? Up until this moment they have been covering artists like Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, this following track is their debut single which is out now.
Could we be about to see a new take on an old style take the UK by storm in the form of the Irish teenagers still in high school? The band will be supporting Blur in Dublin in August, but watch out for them in their own right to make big splashes in 2013!
As you may or may not know it was Record Store Day on Saturday. Record Store Day has been running since 2007, when over 700 independent music stores came together in the USA to celebrate their unique culture.
This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances.
Jack White’s Third Man Records displayed an intriguing and exciting sense of the nostalgic, offering the chance for anyone to record material or messages onto a 7″ record. The Voice-O-Graph Record Booth, originating in 1947 and refurbished by Third Man Records is rumoured to be the only working one of it’s kind in the world. Check it out here – If anyone was going to have it, who else but Jack White III?
Record Store Day 2013 has plenty to genuinely excite music fans – even if you don’t own a record player. Way over a staggering 500 records have been produced exclusively for the event, from music icons including David Bowie (material from The Next Day on white vinyl) and Pink Floyd (a pink pressing of the band’s second single See Emily Play with orignal Syd Barret artwork).
